Rudy Zirlin - A blacksmith & knife maker

Rudy was born in 1964 on Chelyabinsk, a city on the Ural mountains, central Russia. Graduated engineer/metallurgist, Polytechnic university. After graduation he had directed, for a while, a team of locksmiths at a local foundry. He got interested in making edged weapons, so he became an apprentice to a trained blacksmith in Zlatoust (the most famous arms & armor making center in Russia). In 1993 he had immigrated to Israel and worked as a blacksmith ever since, making edged weapons exclusively. Rudy had presented at a seminary of Japanese influence artists at the Tikotin Museum of Japanese art (2002) and made some replicas for the Israeli National Maritime Museum. Rudy's works appear in David Darom's book "The art of modern custom knifemaking". In the book ARTIST, that was publishedto the light of 60 years to the anniversary of the state of  Isreal. Participated in exhibitions in Paris and New York. Works appeared in the book "Combat knives and universal" in Russian and English by Andrew Mack. The works featured in the elite isreali journal "Duvduvan". The work done at kibutz Bet Haemek at the western Galilee. Instructor courses in blacksmithing. Rudy's works are in private collections. Participated in the exhibition in Beit Assia in Tel Aviv and another knives shows in Isreal.

I makes knives, swords, axes and other weapons of any framed style, using almost any avilable steel, including my own Damascus steel.
